Poster Design for the SDGQ contest "Un Toit Un Droit", which aims to raise awareness of the housing crisis in the province.
Around the world, hundreds of millions of people live in substandard housing, in war zones or in makeshift camps. Closer to home, the rising cost of housing is hitting the least fortunate residents of many cities hard.
For the 2023-2024 competition, the SDGQ has decided to partner with FRAPRU. FRAPRU believes that the State must play a central role in housing and must prioritize the development of social housing and ensure the presence of a strong non-speculative sector, in the form of public, cooperative and non-profit housing. FRAPRU aims for the greatest control by all citizens over their housing conditions, the development of their neighborhood and their living environment.
Poster
The poster's central piece is the icon, and it's designed to be used as a protest system for affordable housing, portraying a shared sentiment of entrapment. It makes a visual representation of what could be a reality (and is a reality for some) in Quebec: rents that are not affordable, coherent in cost-benefit, and put you at risk of homelessness.
Triptych
The triptych let's you see how tight the person is, making you feel the claustrophobia and urgency of the matter. Colorimetry was set in black and white to communicate seriousness and stand as political art to make you question what's right or wrong.
Stickers
They were developed as an extension to enhance the interaction of the protest system. This way people can show when a place is not giving affordable housing options and transgresses human rights.
